As part of this week’s update to Tennis Locker, we’ve revealed a major overhaul of our attendance tracking feature for coaches. Each change is designed to improve flexibility for easier attendance tracking at academies of all sizes.

We’ve already announced our new session-based attendance and retro attendance, and today, we’re excited to reveal another component of this feature update.

Tennis Locker now offers attendance exceptions, allowing coaches to quickly log when a player arrives late or leaves early.

Introducing Attendance Exceptions in Tennis Locker

Tennis Locker coaches have tapped to mark players present over 80,000 times since the launch of our app. Those attendance records have not only modernized junior program operations (goodbye, cluttered clipboards) but also allowed for data-driven player development.

With easy-to-read attendance data at their fingertips, coaches can hold players accountable for frequent absences or encourage strategic rest for those at risk of overtraining.

Now that coaches have seen the power of modernized attendance tracking for data-driven player development, we are excited to provide even more detailed records with our new attendance exceptions feature.

By logging attendance exceptions, coaches can easily track when players arrive late or leave early to increase accountability and motivate players to reach their full potential.

How to Use Attendance Exceptions in Tennis Locker

Like all Tennis Locker features, attendance exceptions employ our one-app, one-tap technology to ensure on-court use is quick and easy.

Attendance exceptions can be used on the court as players arrive or by using our new retro attendance capabilities.

To use attendance exceptions as players arrive, start by double-tapping as normal to mark a player present.

Tap and hold on a player’s name in the Attendance feature player list to add an exception. Tap the labeled switches to indicate if the player was late and/or left early. You will then be able to scroll and select exactly how many minutes of training the player missed.

In some instances, you may not have time to log an attendance exception in the middle of a busy training session. With retro attendance, you can go back at any time to update records for players who missed a portion of practice.

To log an attendance exception retroactively, visit the player’s profile and tap on Attendance.

Attendance records appear in a monthly calendar with our simple color-coded system:

  • A green check mark means the player was marked present during practice.
  • A blue check mark means a player was marked present retroactively.
  • A red dot means the player was marked present with an exception for arriving late or leaving early.
